“Wash and Spin to Health: Expanding Reproductive Health Agency through Partnerships with Community Laundromats”
What if everyday spaces—like your neighborhood laundromat—could also be places of learning and empowerment? Dr. Roxanne Mirabal-Beltran will present her Wash and Spin to Health (WASH) Initiative which looks to expand reproductive health agency through partnerships with community laundromats. Partnering with four community laundromats, we created an innovative pilot study to examine whether a short animation on reproductive health would be welcomed by women patrons in laundromats waiting for their wash to finish. Guided by a community advisory board and rooted in a community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach, this project could show us that trusted neighborhood spaces can spark conversations, increase knowledge, and expand health agency. Join us to hear how a simple spin cycle could help transform community health!
